Apostrophe Hand PoemFor our apostrophe hand poem, we needed to show that we knew how to use certain poetic elements: simile, metaphor, and rhyme are just a few of the many you can implement. Our teacher gave us nearly complete freedom with this assignment; she did not require us to make a poem about our hand like the original assignment was planned to be. She gave us freedom to bring out the creative poet in us all.
Personal Narrative |
This paper was one of our more "informal" ones. Instead of a boring essay with cited evidence and 25 quotes, our task was to write about something that had occurred during our life. This is my favorite project so far because it really allows the writer to showcase their own abilities and unique style.

Commencement SpeechThis is by far my favorite piece I've ever accomplished during my sophomore year. Our goal was to write a commencement speech as if we were presenting it to our graduating class. Our only stipulation was that we needed to focus on one big thing and make sure we get our point across. For me, establishing a great work ethic is very important and valuable which is what I made my speech about.

Movie Review
Our task was to watch "One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest" and write a thorough response to our thoughts on the movie versus the book. This project was one of my favorites; it combined using skills to analyze as well as being able to use your own creative ability to deliver a unique review on the movie.

Creative Doctor Write
This was another assignment that was more "creative" based. After we read The Yellow Wallpaper written by Charlotte Perkins Gilman, our job was to put ourselves in the shoes of a doctor, and diagnose the crazy main character--Jane-- with the mental disorder we though applied to her.

Merchant of Venice Recreate a Scene
This project require a little amount of writing; we had to write a script for our recreated scene and a reflection. Our group recreated the scene from "The Merchant of Venice" where Portia complains about all the suitors that wish to marry her. We gave this scene a satirical twist in hopes that it would be humorous to anyone that watched.

Beloved Book Cover Project
This project required us to combine our ingenuity along with including our own interpretation of the Toni Morrison's Beloved. Each student had a unique book cover--which was shown through our different symbolism on our covers.

Metamorphosis
This was one of the first creative projects we did--this was very open ended project and everyone did their own thing. Some students created pieces of art for the short story "Girl," but we decided to use Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka as our inspiration to our sweet video.

Digital Essay
After reading The Handmaids Tale, it was very clear that there was a social critique regarding the roles of government and women in society. I decided to write a digital essay connecting this novel with the critique of mixing politics and religion.

Othello Blog |
Our task for this assignment was to create three different blogs--each blog having a different purpose. Our three blogs were: My unpopular opinion of Shakespeare, who is to blame for the downfall in the book, and lastly my first experience with Shakespeare and how it changed my literary life.
